A Shikara ride on Dal Lake is a traditional light rowing boat, It is one of the most enjoyable experiences for tourists who visit Srinagar. A usual shikara seats six people, with the driver paddling at the rear. Some shikaras are still used for fishing, harvesting aquatic vegetation (usually for fodder), and transport, while most are covered with tarpaulins and are used for tourists.

The Shankaracharya Temple is also known as the Jyeshteshwara Temple. It is situated on top of Shankaracharya Hill & dedicated to Lord Shiva. Jaluka, the son of Emperor Ashoka had built this Shankaracharya Temple around 200 BC. A proponent of Advaita Vedanta, Adi Shankaracharya had paid a visit to this temple and it is here that he attained enlightenment. The temple is one of the famous sacred sites in Srinagar, Nestled at an elevation of 1100 feet and overlooks Srinagar.

Overview: Sonmarg, which means Meadow of Gold, has its backdrop of snowy mountains against the blue sky. The drive offers incredible scenic beauty, dense pine forests, and gigantic mountains. The place provides an ideal base for various trekking routes, high mountain lakes, glaciers, and Sri Amarnath Holy cave. The river meanders along here & abounds with Trout & Mahseer. Sonamarg’s importance lies in the fact that it is the last halt on the Kashmir side for the drive from Srinagar to Leh. Later we drive back and reach Srinagar by evening.

The Bagh was built by Mughal Emperor Jahangir in 1619. The Bagh is considered the high point of Mughal horticulture.
