Overview: Srinagar is famous for its natural beauty, gardens, waterfronts, and houseboats. It lies in the Kashmir Valley on the banks of the Jhelum River, a tributary of the Indus, and Dal and Anchar lakes. It is also known for traditional Kashmiri handicrafts and dried fruits. The city of Srinagar is famous for a number of things, Shankaracharya Temple, Hazratbal Mosque, Jamia Masjid, and the shikara ride on the world-famous Dal Lake. Yusmarg or Yousmarg is a hill station situated 53 km south of Srinagar. Yousmarg provides space for beautiful landscapes, young pine nurseries, green pastures, and heart-touching lotic and lentic water bodies. It has some of the highest peaks in the PirPanjal range including Tattakutti (4,725 m) and Sunset Peak (4,746m). The majestic river Doodh Ganga also makes this destination more thrilling and challenging. The mighty natural slopes of Yusmarg provide skiing opportunities to adventure enthusiasts.
The Shankaracharya Temple is also known as the Jyeshteshwara Temple. It is situated on top of Shankaracharya Hill & dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Jaluka, the son of Emperor Ashoka had built this Shankaracharya Temple around 200 BC. A proponent of Advaita Vedanta, Adi Shankaracharya had paid a visit to this temple and it is here that he attained enlightenment.
The temple is one of the famous sacred sites in Srinagar, Nestled at an elevation of 1100 feet and overlooks Srinagar.
The Bagh was built by Mughal Emperor Jahangir in 1619. The Bagh is considered the high point of Mughal horticulture.
During the rule of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the marble pavilion was the guest house for European visitors. Electrification of the premises was done during Maharaja Hari Singh’s rule. Thus, over the years, the garden was extended and improved by many rulers and called by different names, but the most popular name ‘Shalimar Bagh’ continues to this day. It is now a public park and also referred to as the "Crown of Srinagar"
Nishat Garden is built in the 16th century (1633) by Mughal King Asif Khan. It s a terraced Mughal garden built on the eastern side of Dal Lake, close to Srinagar. Nishat Bagh is the second-largest Mughal garden in the Kashmir Valley.
A Shikara ride on Dal Lake is a traditional light rowing boat, It is one of the most enjoyable experiences for tourists who visit Srinagar.
A usual shikara seats six people, with the driver paddling at the rear. Some shikaras are still used for fishing, harvesting aquatic vegetation (usually for fodder), and transport, while most are covered with tarpaulins and are used for tourists.

The name “doodpathri” means Valley of Milk. Shaliganga flows in Doodhpathri and most treks here follow the course of this river. Rivers Shaliganga and Doodhganga originate from the Ashtaar glacier. Their water is said to be milky in appearance giving the Doodhpathri valley its name. The route passes through the busy towns of Badgam and Khan Sahiba and it will take you around 2 hours to reach Doodhpathri.
