Amritsar is a major commercial and cultural centre in the heart of Punjab. The city is the spiritual and cultural centre of the Sikh religion and is home to the Harmandir Sahib, also known as the Golden Temple- the most important Sikh shrine is a living symbol of the spiritual and historical traditions of the Sikhs. Respectfully marvel at the Indian and Pakistani soldiers who march off nightly at the Wagha Border and at the JallianWala Bagh- where, on April 13, 1919, British and Gurkha soldiers opened fire on an unarmed forbidden gathering, killing hundreds of civilians.

The Golden Temple is a gurdwara located in the city of Amritsar, It is the preeminent spiritual site of Sikhism. The gurdwara is built around a man-made pool that was completed by the fourth Sikh Guru, Guru Ram Das, in 1577. In 1604, Guru Arjan placed a copy of the Adi Granth in Harmandir Sahib.

Jaluka, the son of Emperor Ashoka had built this Shankaracharya Temple around 200 BC. A proponent of Advaita Vedanta, Adi Shankaracharya had paid a visit to this temple and it is here that he attained enlightenment.
The temple is one of the famous sacred sites in Srinagar, Nestled at an elevation of 1100 feet and overlooks Srinagar.

The Bagh was built by Mughal Emperor Jahangir in 1619. The Bagh is considered the high point of Mughal horticulture.
During the rule of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the marble pavilion was the guest house for European visitors. Electrification of the premises was done during Maharaja Hari Singh’s rule. Thus, over the years, the garden was extended and improved by many rulers and called by different names, but the most popular name ‘Shalimar Bagh’ continues to this day. It is now a public park and also referred to as the "Crown of Srinagar"
